Ciccioponi the city squirrel… Inspired by the resident black squirrels of Toronto. Based on a series of drawings about an Asian homeless woman in Toronto who foraged squirrel as food in Grange Park, Toronto. This character was the catalyst for future sculpture whose intention was to create awareness regarding the purpose and interconnectedness of animals and humans in urban settings. The black squirrel can be seen throughout Toronto as well as the rare albino squirrel of same family.
